Go for Gold

I’m certain that years of blood, sweat, tears and perseverance brought these women to where they are today; and boy do they know how to look good in gold!  You don’t have to be a woman either, these men look just as fantastic in their gold accessories too!

Over the years, I had made up my mind that gold was “old fashioned” and wasn’t cool. That somehow I was going to look like a young woman who had been playing in her grandmother’s jewelry box. I certainly wasn’t old and stodgy, I was hip and cool! Up until a few years ago I didn’t purchase, use or wear anything that featured gold coloring; no bracelets, shoes, handbags, drinkware, nothing!  Slowly it crept in. It was allowed because, you know, it was an accent color and not the focal point.

Fast-forward to today and I’ve clearly gotten over my complete ban on gold and have come to embrace, and actually enjoy, making that once accent color a prominent feature in my accessories. Although I still gravitate to sterling and platinum, here are a few of my favorite pieces in rotation today.

Just like the Olympic athletes that are focused, driven and challenge themselves to Go For Gold, you too can approach each day, outfit and preconceived notion with new perspective. Allow an idea or new color to be an accent in your day and closely observe what happens as a result. Just a little bit at a time; I mean let’s not go crazy and, for instance, wear gold from head to toe! In life, unlike the Olympics, the only person you’re competing against is yourself. So go grab some gold, throw it on and make today, and the rest of the week, a gold medal affair!

Just do it!

Stretch. Be Strong. You get one body, make it count.Shoes make the outfit. Planks. Planks. Planks. Plan. Monitor. Adjust. Grow.

A few weeks ago I ventured out downtown for a change of scenery and boy what a glorious day it was!  Boats on the river, kayakers paddling along and just enough breeze to keep me cool without getting cold.  Back in the day a cotton t-shirt and any old pair of shorts would do for exercise however, nowadays, there are so many fantastic fabrics that help to keep you dry, cool and looking stylish that my old t-shirts have found their way to a donation pile.  Sometimes getting dressed up in my workout duds helps to motivate me to get out there and Just do it!  Don’t I know we all need a little motivation sometimes 🙂

Cheers to getting back on the wagon of posting, exercise and just plain seeing the good in everything around me!

Life is too short to be anything but happy, fit and in control!

Now get out there and Just do it!
